A $2,500 per semester scholarship supporting MA and PhD students committed to social service impact.

Available for both new and returning Master’s and PhD students enrolled in the program.

This scholarship is granted for a one-year period to support academic progress.

Eligibility Criteria

Program Enrollment

Open to new or returning students fully admitted into the MA or Ph.D. program at ICSW.

Service Requirement

Must have completed volunteer and/or professional service within two years of applying to ICSW.

Academic Standing

Returning students must be in good academic and financial standing at the time of application.

Supporting LettersLetters of Recommendation

  • Must provide proof of volunteer and/or professional service via a letter from a former supervisor.

  • Returning students must provide one letter of recommendation from an ICSW faculty member.

Original essay, 900–1,200 words — Arial 12ptPersonal Statement

Must submit a 900–1200-word personal statement (typed in Arial, 12-point font) that includes:

a.) A description of your experience working in social service organizations with vulnerable populations.

b.) What you learned from that experience, and what you hope to learn at ICSW to help inform your ongoing work.

c.) Your future commitment to working with vulnerable populations in social service organizations.

d.) How the legacy of Dr. Joan Berzoff will shape your practice with vulnerable populations.

  • Note: You may include other relevant information or documents to assist the committee in making their decision.
